Fernando Távora – Permanent Modernity
The exhibition “Fernando Távora – Permanent Modernity” was one of the closing events of Guimarães 2012 – European Capital of Culture as a homage to Fernando Távora, the Portuguese pioneer in modern architecture. The exhibition took place in the building of the Department of Architecture in Guimarães, a initially designed by the architect himself.
Along with Távora’s architectural project, the exhibition showcased a more personal aspect of his life, drawings, sketches, photographs and sketch books.
A bespoke display typeface was designed based on a grid and on drafts of a handful of letters designed by the architect. The font was built in three variants – regular, inline 1, inline 2, engraves and grid.
Project designed at FBA.
